Adaline's Story

    Adaline grew up in a small town on the edge of a large forest. Her parents died when she was very young so she spent most of her young life living with her grandmother, whom owned and operated an alchemy shop (alchemy using elements from nature to create medicines and herbal remedies). She spent most of her days wondering the nearby forest, playing with animals and searching for plants for her grandmother to use. She also took up gardening as a hobby.
    When she was 16 years old, her grandmother passed away from an illness that she had been battling for most of Adaline's life. After mourning her grandmother, Adaline closed the shop and left the cobblestone streets of the town behind to go on a journey into the forest. She walked and camped in the forest for many days, and eventually came across a little stone house that was abandoned. It had seen better days as it was partly caved in and covered in vines, so Adaline did her best to restore it and chose to stay.
    Over the next year she made repairs, planted a garden, had a small stray cat show up whom decided to stay with her, and she made the little house into a home for herself. Her knowledge of plants and herbs helped her to live off the land. She enjoyed the quiet life she was living in the forest. During the day she would tend her garden and watch the animals and other forest life. After dark she would enjoy a cup of tea and read while her cat curled up in her lap. It was a nice life, but something was also missing. She found herself a bit lonely.
    Then, one day, she was at a nearby stream to bathe when she heard a loud rustling in the trees nearby. Startled, she quickly dressed and went to investigate. She peeked through the branches and what she saw made her shriek! An elven girl, who looked to be near her age, lay hurt and bleeding in some shrubbery. Adaline quickly ran to her side and took the elven girl back to her home. Once safely inside, Adaline used her alchemy to tend to the girls wounds and over the next few months nursed her back to full health; during which time the girls became friends.
    Daoine (the elven girl) would not speak anything about her past or where she came from; all she would say is that she could not go back, so Adaline offered to let her stay and Daoine, knowing that Adaline had a kind heart, accepted the offer. Finally having a friend, Adaline felt that things finally seemed complete in her life.
    And that is where our story begins...

Cora's Story
    Outside the small town where Adaline grew up lies the main city of the region, called Kildare. In the center of Kildare there is a huge castle where the King and Queen rule the region. The King is very kind and is well loved by all the people. He and the Queen have only one child, a daughter, named Princess Cora.
    When Cora was a child, the Queen often frequented a quaint little alchemy shop in the neighboring town and often Cora joined her on these trips. Cora loves venturing out and meeting the people of the region and looked forward to these trips with her mother. Cora was extremely sad when the sweet little old lady who owned the alchemy shop passed away and then her granddaughter, whom Cora enjoyed visiting very much, moved away.
    After several years, Princess Cora ventured out on her own one day and discovered a small cottage in the nearby forest. There she met Adaline once again and the girls immediately recognized each other. It didn't take long before the girls were good friends and Cora, being gentle, kind and extremely sweet also won the trust of Daoine, the elven girl that lives with Adaline. Cora returned home as she has a duty to the people of the region but often makes short trips to visit the girls in the cottage to buy the remedies and potions that Adaline makes and to visit with her friends.
